Our Story

Project Overview

Brief

In this project, you will design, build, and launch a fully functional four-page prototype website with both desktop and mobile views, aimed at informing the public about a specific lifestyle topic. The chosen topic is a fictional skincare brand I personally created called Plumpy. This brand offers a carefully crafted, environmentally friendly skincare line made from natural ingredients. An added feature of the website includes an interactive skincare quiz that recommends the most suitable products based on each user's unique skin type and needs.

Process

Research was conducted to understand how people would interact on a skincare selling website. This investigation gave a better understanding of what the targeted audience liked and what annoyed them. It also provided insight on how they interact with skincare quizzes and generally on websites.

Digital wireframes were used to layout the a low-fidelity version of the prototype. This low fidelity prototype allowed to improve on the overall layout of the design, and whether it met the criteria of the audience.

Solution

A high-fidelity version of the website was then carefully created on Adobe XD to effectively bring the design concept to life. This process included developing a fully functional skincare quiz designed to provide personalized product recommendations. Additionally, a working prototype was built, featuring detailed images of Plumpy products alongside comprehensive full-colour palettes and the specific fonts utilised throughout the design.

Understanding the Pain Points

User Testing

User interviews were conducted to gain a better understanding of how our targeted users would interact with a skincare application to discover what could be improved and added into the website. This included understand their navigation behaviour as well as the sign-in process, purchasing and browsing processes.

Overall, participants concluded with:

  • Wanting more imagery on the pages to persuade them to purchase the products

  • Wanted a more condensed quiz so it could be quick and easy to complete and didn’t have complicated questions they wouldn’t understand.

  • Wanted a see reviews for people that have previously purchased from the. site to highlight past experience and trusted insight from other customers

  • Having access to their navigation bar easily and see the main options they would access including their cart, products, account and skincare quiz

Defining Goals

To adjust the website, the user wanted realistic goals to achieve and these were the goals set.

  • Add more related imagery throughout the website that relate to the brand Plumpy

  • Crafting a 5 multiple choice quiz for the users to complete

  • Adding a section on the homepage where the reviews from previous customers could be seen

  • Ensuring to design a sticky navigation bar where the navigation bar would follow the site as the user would scroll to access other pages when needed with ease.
